Mini Twists are gorgeous!! I love mine and I'll definitely be trying them again. Here are some of the reasons you should consider trying them.
Mini twists last longer than larger twists. They won't come loose as soon and if done right they can last a month. If longevity is important to you mini twists are a great choice.
They're Cheap! This for me is one of the reasons why I tried them. Because you're using your own hair there's no extra cost for braids or what not.
They are more versatile. There are many different styles that you can do with mini twists that just aren't possible with larger twists.
But the bad news is...
They take forever to put in!. I'm lazy when putting in chunky twists for a twist out and can spend half the day doing my usual three strand twists, so spending upwards of 10 hours doing one hairstyle is a bit daunting. Luckily you can split it up into a number of sessions over a couple of days like I did or just make sure you have lots of good movies to keep you going.
Knoting is a very present danger.The key to avoiding knots is not to keep them in too long and redo the twists along your edges and nape every week or everyother week to minimize locking. Hwen washing them you have to be extra careful not to cause knoting and locing.
So what's the final verdict?Mini twists require patience to put in and monitoring to make sure the hair doesn't loc. But the positive side is so much higher when you consider that it's a long term protective style that is versatile and easy to care for and dead cheap.
