Five Fabulous Hair Foods to Make Your Hair Grow!

In the search for long healthy natural hair lots of us concentrate on what we put on our scalps and hair shaft, forgetting that what we put in our bodies affects the way our hair will look and grow.

Food #1: A whole lot healthier!

Incorporating more whole grains in your diet will add a healthy dose of B vitamins, iron and zinc. So, the next time you go grocery shopping make sure you pick up your favorite whole-grain breakfast cereal and wholewheat bread.

Food #2: Green revolution!

Dark green vegetables are an essential part of
your Hair Food eating plan because they’re packed with vitamins A and C. That also includes "traditional" veggies like pumpkin leaves, rape, kale etc. Who doesn't like carrots? The vitamin A found in carrots isn't just good for your eyes, it also promotes a healthy scalp.

Food #3: Go nuts about nuts!

Research shows that hair shedding can be caused by zinc deficiency. Nuts like walnuts, pecans, almonds and cashews provide an excellent source of zinc. Need more convincing? Brazil nuts are an important part of maintaining a healthy scalp.

Food #4: Eat meat!... and beans!... and eggs!

Protein is a very important part of your meal plan. Chicken, turkey, lean beef and salmon provide high-quality sources of protein – in addition to other nutrients. Beans are really good for your hair because they provide protein (among other nutrients) which promotes hair growth. Regardless of how they’re served up – over easy, scrambled, as omelets or boiled – eggs are a very good source of protein and should be included in your meal plan. With so many options for sources of protien, this is usually the easiest hair food to add to your diet.

Food #5: Got Milk?

Calcium is an important component to maintaining healthy natural hair. Eating (low-fat) dairy products like yogurt, cottage cheese or skim milk will provide you with not only calcium but a source of protein as well.
